Only one left

Tim Brown announced his retirement today, and the first thing I thought of was there goes another player from Tecmo Super Bowl. I thought I would be the only person crazy enough to mention this, but another site beat me to the punch. It turns out Jerry Rice is the last remaining active player from Tecmo Bowl, the game that came out before Tecmo Super Bowl -- the greatest game ever.

If you really want to learn more, go to the site from where I got the information.

Good find, Alan. Reading that site - Tecmo Sports news - brought back a lot of memories of that game. It's too bad you couldn't represent in that game, though. One question for you - when you say the greatest game, do you mean Tecmo Bowl or Tecmo Super Bowl? That's a tough one, cause I remember playing the original on a weekly basis against other worthy opponents. The sequel was a much better game, and it had all 28 teams with real team colors.

I didn't play the original Tecmo much, but, as you know Patriotsy2k, I dominated in Tecmo Super Bowl.

No, I don't know. I don't think I ever played you in Tecmo Super Bowl.
Love the site that you found. Was just reading the "season 9" and found that we - Class of '92 guys - played a similar type of round-robin.

From the Sports Frog message board,http://www.sportsfrog.com/swamp/, I learned that John Carney, Sean Landeta, Deion Sanders, and Bruce Smith are still active, and they were all on Tecmo Super Bowl. Now I'm afraid there's more.

Bruce Smith is still active? this reminds me of the late Reggie White, who seemed to retire on 3 different occasions.

Smith signed that 5 year deal with the Skins a few years back.
Is Testaverde still active? I would assume he would be in that game as well.

yeah, good call. He was on Tampa back then. I took them to the Super Bowl twice and won both times. You'd have to ask Parcells if he still is, or I'll just wait till Gay Gary comes home later after a night of turning tricks to find out.
